Maria Kim, MS, RD, LD, CDCES (she/any pronouns)

I help people dismantle misinformation around diabetes, and learn to care for their bodies in a meaningful way.

  • Existing in our bodies can be hard which is why offering anti-diet, size inclusive diabetes support is important to me. I believe everyone deserves informed, shame-free, individualized eating care that not only addresses their unique and evolving needs but also critically challenges oppressive systems. My approach is rooted in compassion and collaboration – my goal is you feel understood and empowered in your care.

I would love to help you define what that looks like for you! We would be a good fit if you often feel managing blood sugars and eating disorder recovery are at odds with each other, find preparing or making decisions about meals to be challenging, struggle with feelings of shame or guilt related to food and body image, have "complex" needs that feel overwhelming, or are looking for a POC, multiply neurodivergent, queer provider who "gets it".

  • I received my bachelor's degree in Nutritional Science at Cornell University, my master's degree in Clinical Nutrition at New York Institute of Technology, and I completed my internship training with Sodexo Dietetic Internships with a focus on pediatrics.

    Maria maintains the following credentials:

-Registered Dietitian (RD) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration

-Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist(CDCES) by the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education

Maria is working towards obtaining the following credentials:

-Certified Body Trust Professional through the Center for Body Trust

Maria holds active membership in the following professional organizations:

-The Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH)

  • I believe everyone deserves informed, shame-free, individualized eating care within the complex frameworks of their ever changing needs. I would love to help you define what that looks like for yourself.

I have experience working with people recovering from eating disorders in higher levels of care, and also have experience counseling in nutrition related to the perinatal period, infant and child nutrition, breastfeeding/chestfeeding. I have been trained in clinical pediatrics and feeding therapy for children with feeding challenges.
